I had an incredible chiropractic adjustment recently. Oh MY! I needed it! If you've ever wondered about chiropractic care and if it really works, I can tell you that it does "IF" you have the right practitioner for you. I'll even quote my own doctor: "There is ordinary care and then there is exceptional care" I've experienced both.
A few years ago I had some issues with my back always in constant pain. A burning/aching feeling in the lower right side. Come to find out my hips were out of alignment. I finally got the courage to attempt chiropractic care and had someone I knew and trusted who is amazing. He did an x-ray and with a ruler you could see how my hips slanted and were completely out of alignment. I had a nerve at the end of my vertebrae pinching because of it and causing the pain in the right side of my lower back.
If you haven't heard of the Gonstead Method, check in out here . Adjustments using this method is much more thorough than what I've experienced elsewhere. I recommend finding one who practices this method if you are going to give chiropractic therapy a try. It really is a form of therapy in my opinion. When a massage is never enough, try this. Relief is almost instantaneous.
So my chiropractor moved to Utah. My Utah friends can check him out here . Dr.Brian Holmes takes exceptional care with his patients. I was given such great treatment through a series of adjustments. If I had a headache I would get immediate relief. I finally felt better not just in my back but my over all well being. I had actually forgotten how great it was until I was reminded with my recent treatment.
So after Dr. Holmes moved I tried someone more locally and it was such a different experience. He was nice enough but the method of "adjustments" was completely different. On a table that made had a bell "ding" indicating the adjustment had been made when I didn't even feel anything. Then just had some electrical nerve stimulation which felt good but I never felt really "adjusted". That was ordinary care.
Another year goes by and I've can tell my body is a hot mess and the pain in my lower back had been returning off an on. You know when one area of your body is off it is like a chain reaction and other parts of the body are impacted. Stress takes a toll on the body, sitting for hours on end at a desk takes a toll, not getting enough self care takes a toll. I had also been extremely frustrated with some things at work and personal life and I was just so wound up and tight, my body was crying for help.
I've been working out a lot as well and my knee acting up for my runs and I knew my hip was out of alignment. Even doing leg lifts/crunches there was a popping noise. So I knew I needed to do something before I really hurt myself. So I started looking for other Chiropractor's that practices the Gonstead method and I found Dr. Chris Elleraas at Carmel Valley Chiropractic
WOW! Can I just say that he didn't lie when he told me I'd walk out feeling amazing and that he would work some magic. He really took the time to listen and really got to know me and what my needs are and did a great job assessing me. I felt like he was completely in tune with what I needed and really took the time to help me rather than get me in and out the door as fast as possible. He did a great job at making me feel comfortable so I could allow those adjustments to happen. (remember I was wound up so tight and it was hard for me to let go of that). We went through the series of adjustments and he explained everything he was doing and why. We found many areas that needed help with and I can really feel the difference. He warned me that as I go about my day I may feel like taking on the world and want to do things that I should actually rest from or be careful doing. And he was right. My head finally felt the clearest it has been for a long time. Like I had this energy barrier removed from me and relief flooding my body. And I had to stop myself when I realized I was doing things I shouldn't do just yet. (like lifting heavy objects). Usually I have an afternoon crash, but not that day and thinking about it. I've been feeling pretty good since then too. I even had a stomach pain go a way. He pointed it out on my back on a sensitive area and he said that was from my stomach. And sure enough I felt better with that too.
Going on a week later and I'm still feeling that sense of relief and clarity even. So if you haven't given Chiropractic a try or maybe you have and it wasn't what you thought, maybe you need to just find the right one for you and give it a try.
